Life of Film
On Thursday the 9th of November, I attended an event at school where the, director of Music interviewed Samuel Karl Bohn, who is a successful composer who writes music for films.
I learned about the way a composer matches music to images, creating mood and tension or 'let motifs' for individual characters.
The things that I found interesting are the way that a certain piece is made, like how the composer starts with either a detailed or brief example of what the director wants for the film. So they basically just have a play about with certain tunes and softwares.
Before Samuel explained how important music is in film, I would just normally ignore it and not think about it, but when he explain how is pretty makes the viewers understand how the actors are feeling and thinking at the certain period in time.
I also feel the it has given me a better understanding of music in film and that it could be something that I really can enjoy. For example I could make my own piece of music.
