conventions of an opening sequence.
- Sets the scene
- Gives you a brief idea or plan to what is going to happen or has happened. (Basic narrative)
- Give you certain information about the characters involved in the film.
- Shows you the title
- You get to hear the music involved in the film, of the first clip.
- Certain shots are used to show the viewers what is going on like a long shot or an establishing shot to help set the scene even more.
- Shows you the names of the creators, directors and producers etc. (star billing)
- Production companies- backed the film first thing shown on the opening sequence.
- To introduce the genre.
- Enigma code
- The location used in the opening shot helps the viewers to establish what the content of the film is about.
- Font, needs to be well thought about so that it is perfect for our opening sequence.
Major blockbusters may be up
to 5 minutes. But most film openings are around 2 minutes long. Introduce the key characters, protagonist,
antagonist and sidekick. Introduce pre plot or beginning of the narrative.
