Review on My Scientology
What is my Scientology even about? Well scientology is a religion believe it or not, and it was a religion that I had no idea about until I watched "My Scientology Movie" by Louis Theroux.
Scientology is where you believe in the after life and that are soul and mind will be carried on to a new host, which in this case is a new body. The religion was founded and launched by American author L.Ron Hubbard in May 1952 and when Hubbard died in 1986, religion was taken over by David Miscaviage shortly after the death of Hubbard.
There are many different layers and levels to Scientology I have inserted a diagram to show you the different types of levels in this religion. But the highest level you could be (other than being the leader of the religion) was called the "Sea Org", know I found this very odd because they uniform is exactly like the USA Navy- and I feel that Louis Theroux was trying exploit why they are dressed like that.
Basically Louis Theroux was trying to exploit the whole of the religion and trying to see how and why people believe in the religion and he did this by being a bit of an annoying person to deal with until he got the answers he was looking for.
For example when filming the documentary, on multiple occasions someone tried to stop his camera crew from filming so to make things even better Louis just whipped out his phone and started recording the people who had gotten in the way of the filming process.
And this tactic of "getting in the way" I feel is a good way of getting the answers you wanted and the footage that you need for the documentary, so I will trying to interpret his style of documenting in my documentary.
